Skin Preparation
The Foundation of Flawless Makeup
A flawless makeup application starts long before the first brushstroke. It begins with meticulous skin preparation. Think of your skin as the canvas – a smooth, hydrated, and healthy canvas will hold makeup beautifully and ensure it lasts throughout the day (or night!). At Jewels' Salon, I understand the importance of this crucial first step and I'm here to share my expertise with you.

Why is Skin Preparation so Important?
Proper skin prep isn't just about making your makeup look good; it's about the health and longevity of your skin too. Here's why it matters:
Long-lasting Makeup: Well-prepped skin provides a smooth, even base for your makeup to adhere to. This prevents your foundation from caking, separating, or fading throughout the day.
Hydration is Key: Hydrated skin plumps up fine lines and wrinkles, creating a smoother surface for makeup application. It also prevents your skin from absorbing moisture from your makeup, which can lead to a patchy or dry appearance.
Healthy Skin, Beautiful Makeup: Addressing any skin concerns like dryness, oiliness, or texture before applying makeup ensures a more natural and radiant finish. Makeup should enhance your natural beauty, not mask underlying issues.
Prevents Breakouts: Clean, well-moisturized skin is less prone to breakouts. Proper cleansing and exfoliation remove impurities that can clog pores and lead to blemishes.

My Skin Preparation Process
I tailor my skin preparation process to each individual's skin type and concerns. However, a typical routine includes:
Gentle Cleansing: Removing dirt, oil, and impurities is the first step to a clean canvas. I use gentle cleansers that won't strip your skin of its natural oils.
Exfoliation (if needed): Regular exfoliation removes dead skin cells, revealing brighter and smoother skin. I choose the right type of exfoliant based on your skin's sensitivity.
Toning: Toning helps to balance the skin's pH and prepares it for the next steps.
Hydration: Moisturizing is crucial for all skin types. I select the perfect moisturizer to address your specific needs, whether it's a light lotion or a richer cream.
Eye Cream: The delicate skin around the eyes requires special attention. I use a hydrating eye cream to plump and smooth the area.
Primer (optional): Depending on your skin type and the desired look, I may use a primer to further smooth the skin, control oil, or enhance the longevity of your makeup.
